Abstract

This study aimed to identify, explain, and validate the educational requirements of resilient families based on Islamic teachings, particularly hadiths and narrations. The study employed a mixed qualitative–quantitative approach. In the qualitative phase, qualitative content analysis based on a deductive category system was used. The research domain comprised printed and digital sources related to Islamic teachings, particularly hadiths and narrations addressing resilient family characteristics, which were selected purposively. Data were collected through a library-based review and systematic note-taking, and source examination continued until conceptual saturation was achieved. The paragraph was considered the unit of analysis. Relevant textual segments were initially identified, after which key concepts were extracted and recorded as primary codes. Conceptually similar codes were subsequently organized into broader categories, and corresponding educational requirements were formulated. In the quantitative validation phase, the extracted requirements were submitted to six experts in educational sciences and psychology. A researcher-made questionnaire was employed to evaluate the identified items, and their content validity was assessed using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR). The quantitative validation results indicated that all proposed items concerning the educational requirements of resilient families were approved by the expert panel. The reported CVR coefficients ranged from 0.82 to 1.00, demonstrating an acceptable to strong level of expert agreement regarding the necessity and content relevance of the items. Consequently, none of the proposed items was excluded during the validation process, supporting the content validity of the developed framework. Islamic teachings provide a potentially valid educational foundation for strengthening family resilience through principles such as patience and perseverance, trust in God, responsibility, effective life management, optimism about the future, spiritual connection, thoughtful decision-making, psychological and physical well-being, sound economic conduct, and family cooperation. The validated framework may therefore be applied in culturally responsive family education programs and educational interventions designed to enhance resilience within Muslim families.
