Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the impact of the market economy on the secondary education system among male students. This study was applied in purpose and quantitative (documentary and survey) in method. The statistical population consisted of male students in the second cycle of secondary education who were studying in Tehran during the academic year 2021-2022, with a total of 383 students selected as the research sample through multi-stage cluster sampling. To gather information, a researcher-designed questionnaire was used. To assess the reliability of the instrument, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was employed. The face validity and content validity of the questionnaire were evaluated by specialists. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the Spearman correlation coefficient indicated that the market economy has a significant impact on the secondary education system among students in Tehran. The technical and instrumental needs, cognitive needs, and personality needs do not have a significant impact on the secondary education system among students in Tehran. However, the communication needs and management needs have a significant impact on the secondary education system among students in Tehran. The market economy significantly affects the choice of field of study among students in Tehran. Additionally, the market economy does not have a significant impact on students' continuation or dropout rates in Tehran. It can be concluded that the market and its needs are related to the educational system, and if appropriate planning occurs between them, an increase in market efficiency can be observed.
